  • Condition: I have had this for a long time, I bought it when it was recommended for my Questar 3.5 in one of the on-line forums. It is really handsome with wood and red felt. Fits very tight on my Questar (I measured the diameter to be 103mm. I have not used it much, preferring the Questar filter over this.

    hese unique handmade filters consist of the newly patented Baader AstroSolar metallized film, mounted in attractive exotic dark hardwood in New Zealand and multiply-coated with UV-resistant polyurethane. Each filter cell is custom made to fit the Questar barrel, sealed and felt lined. They are shipped in a triple-strength felt-lined cardboard container (bubble-wrap protected) that serves as a long lasting storage box. The solar image is white, with minimum dispersion, black sky background and excellent high-contrast detail of umbra, penumbra, grana and faculae.
    My own comments:
    I bought this when it was praised in Questar on-line forums, maybe 10-15 years ago (maybe longer, 20 years - I cannot find my record of buying this). I tired it and it works fine, but put it away and always used the original full aperture Questar filter. Fits very tight over my Questar.
    Selling because I am getting out of the hobby (will be selling the Questar too - that's the one pictured in one of the pictures) - actually switching to binocular astronomy - I need to use both eyes and the Questar & Binoviewer combination is not a good solution for me.
    The condition is pretty good.
